On our first attempt ever we totally kicked the spider wing's ass last night!
It was a great run and great fun. We learned a lot and got some nice lewts.
Also learned that we really need to gear up our tanks and healers. :D

Guild members list updated

I updated our guild members list (finally) so now all our new people and all your new alts should have a nice place on our website. ;)

I also added a link to our guild on the WoW Armory. Seemed like a cool thing to do. It updates more often than I do anyway. hehe.

ZA 2.0, A Successful Run.

Tonight was the first run of the ZA 2.0 group. The first pull on the bear boss went very well. We got him down to 3% on the first try.

Our following attempts were slightly more painful. This is when we tried a slightly different strategy.

We busted out our Care Bear powers and unleashed the Power of Friendship and concurred our foe!

Help pay for Berserker vent

The berserker guys have been nice enough to let us use their vent server for raids and groups. The time has come for them to cough up the $140 to pay for another year of vent goodness. I know it is not our vent server but many of us use it quite often.
So if you would like to contribute head on over to the 2DM forum and drop Goat some cash.

He has options setup for pay pal or you can use the clan pay option that pays the hosting company directly. I used the clan pay and dropped him $10.

Please keep in mind that this is optional. You do not have to pay anything especially if you don't even know what berserker vent is. ;) But if any of you raiders have a spare $5 or $10 laying around why not float it their way. :D

Ventrilo 3.0 is out!

However, before you run out and upgrade you will need to wait for the server to be updated. :)

The reason I post this is because the Berserker Ventrilo server has already been upgraded to version 3.0. None of the other servers we use have been updated yet. So, until our server is upgraded we will not be able to connect to the Berserker server for raids until we update our clients. But then we will not be able to connect to the Istari server until we downgrade our clients. ;)

I just wanted to let you all know before you had any weird Vent troubles. ;)

The Guild Bank is ready!

With the 2.3 patch Blizzard has added guild banks to the game! A Guild can purchase 98 slot tabs were anyone in the guild may deposit or withdraw items or money. The first tab costs 100g, the second 250g, the third 350g, and so on. I have purchased our first tab and a few of us have loaded it up with harder to find trade skill goods, quest items, trade skill recipes, and a few other things.

Please feel free to use what you need and to deposit anything you think some one else might need someday. No money with draw is allowed since we really aren't a big raiding guild and have no money anyway. However, you may deposit money to help fund future bank tabs if one is ever needed (by no means required).

Hmm... I suppose if you understood that you have all the information you need. For everyone else... We seem to have developed an unofficial official Zul Aman run on the public test realm. It seems like Saturdays around 2:00pm seem to work for most people. So if you would like a shot at going copy yourself over to the test realm before Saturday. The character copies have been going pretty quickly so it should be to big of a hassle.

Well, we have been a guild for over two years and never had a guild tabard so I don't think it is really much of an issue but I thought I would bring it up again. :)

So what you you think? What do you want it to look like? What symbol do you want to represent our guild?

I have designed two different versions.
Since Istari is the race of Gandalf I suggest the pointy wizard hat. Grey and white were my first choices. You know the whole Gandalf the grey and the white stuff.
The other matches the colors and icon from our website.

I was rather disappointed that we had to PUG over 50% of the group but it was fun none the less. Purples all around. ;)

Hopefully next week we will actually get more guild people on.

Istari!

We finally got enough of us together to form Istari on our Horde server, Uldaman.
After realizing that it really wasn't necessary to have our Horde and Alliance characters on the same server we chose Uldaman for our Horde server.
This comes with the bonus that if Blackhand is down or full (queues suck) we can still play our Horde characters on Uldaman. :)

"Before the Storm" patch out Dec. 5th!

Yelldon has posted info in the forum about the official release date of the pre-expansion patch!

The next World of Warcraft content update, “Before the Storm,” will include the new PvP Honor System, as well as other new features that will prepare us for The Burning Crusade expansion. We are currently planning to release this content update next Tuesday, December 5. Please note that the patch date is still subject to change, and we will keep you informed of any changes to the plan as they happen.

If the patch goes live as planned, this will be the last week that new PvP ranks under the old Honor System can be earned, as the patch will immediately introduce the new Honor System. We will run one final honor calculation on December 5 and update everyone’s ranking accordingly on that date so that players who achieve a new rank for that week have the opportunity to display that title on their character. Please note, however, that no new PvP rewards will be unlocked for purchase with this final “old Honor System” calculation, regardless of any increase in rank.

For those who have been seeking high-rank PvP armor and weapons, note that the new Honor System will still include these item rewards, and it will actually be easier to earn these items under the new Honor System than under the old Honor System. Those who wish to see how their PvP abilities measure up against other players will still be able to do so under the new Arena System.

Nearly twenty-five thousand years ago, the eredar race arose on the world of Argus. They were extremely intelligent and had a natural affinity for magic in all its myriad forms. Using their gifts, they developed a vast and wondrous society.

Unfortunately the eredar's accomplishments caught the attention of Sargeras, the Destroyer of Worlds. He had already begun his Burning Crusade to eradicate all life from the cosmos, and he believed that the brilliant eredar would be pivotal in leading the vast demonic army he was gathering. Thus, he contacted the eredar's three most prominent leaders: Kil'jaeden, Archimonde, and Velen. In exchange for the loyalty of the eredar race, Sargeras offered untold power and knowledge.

Although the offer sounded very tempting, Velen had a vision of the future that filled him with sick dread. Sargeras had spoken the truth: the eredar who joined the Dark Titan would indeed gain enormous power and knowledge. However, the eredar would themselves be transformed into demons.

Velen saw the Legion in all its terrible might and witnessed the destruction it would wreak upon all of creation. He hastened to warn Kil'jaeden and Archimonde, but they dismissed his concerns, for they had been enticed by Sargeras' promises. They gave Sargeras their allegiance and were transformed into colossal beings of depthless evil.

The sheer power that Sargeras commanded made direct opposition unthinkable. Velen nearly despaired, but his prayer for help was overheard. A being came to Velen and explained that it was one of the naaru, a race of sentient energy beings bent on stopping the Burning Crusade. The naaru offered to take Velen and any other like-minded eredar to safety.

Deeply relieved, Velen gathered the other eredar who had thus far refused to join Sargeras. Naming themselves the draenei, or "exiled ones" in the Eredun language, the renegades barely escaped from Argus, with the Burning Legion only moments behind. Kil'jaeden was furious with what he felt was Velen's betrayal, and the demon vowed to hunt Velen and the rest of the draenei to the ends of the cosmos if need be.

The Legion chased the draenei for many thousands of years. The draenei visited many worlds and explored much of the known cosmos in their quest to find safe harbor. Still the Legion would not give up its pursuit. Meanwhile, the enigmatic naaru race blessed the draenei with Light-given knowledge and power. The naaru explained that there were other forces in the cosmos that would stand against the Burning Legion. One day the naaru would forge them into a single unstoppable army of the Light. Deeply affected by the naaru's words, the draenei vowed to honor the Light and uphold the naaru's altruistic ideals.

At last Velen and his draenei settled upon a remote and peaceful world that seemed an ideal refuge. They named it Draenor, or "Exiles' Refuge", and there they quietly cultivated their society once again. Ever wary of being discovered again by Kil'jaeden's forces, Velen and his mystics kept their magics hidden for generations.

In time the draenei met and befriended the shamanistic orc clans that already lived in the tranquil southern grasslands of Nagrand. Aside from engaging in some limited trade, the draenei and orcs regarded one another with respect but kept mostly to themselves.

In spite of the draenei's caution, Kil'jaeden discovered their secret refuge on Draenor. He learned more of the world and its inhabitants, and he grew intrigued by the mighty orc race. A plan unfolded in his mind, and the demon lord began to laugh. He could see precisely how to mold the orcs into the instrument of his wrath. It was merely a matter of time and pressure.

And so Kil'jaeden began to corrupt the orcs, first through the elderly shaman Ner'zhul, and then through his apprentice, Gul'dan. The orc clans dedicated themselves to the art of war and joined to form a single, murderous Horde. Even the wisest shaman learned warlock magics and abandoned the teachings they had once revered.

Smoothly manipulated from a state of wary acceptance into blind rage and bloodlust, the orcs attacked the draenei. This bloody conflict lasted nearly eight years, but the orcs' triumph was inevitable. The draenei were mighty due to their Light-given powers, but the demon-maddened Horde was mightier still. The orcs killed over eighty percent of the draenei race and sent the rest fleeing for safety to the remote corners of the world.

Afterwards, draenei who had fought the Horde and survived found that they had been affected by the fel energies wielded so freely by the orc warlocks. These draenei have since mutated into lesser forms, resulting in a series of subspecies. The Broken and the Lost Ones (as seen above) are two such genetic offshoots. Their warped bodies bear only a rough resemblance to the proud draenei they once were, and quite a few have lost their grip on sanity.

Oh well... Not sure what i think.

It is done. The site has been moved to the new hosting platform. I just managed to get forum email working so you should be getting your reply notifications again.
It wasn't the smoothest of processes, we lost a few posts and I had all kinds of old email showing up in my mail box for a few days but everything seems to be settled now.

...well, almost. It was a very close fight and our 2nd attempt was going much better than the first. If we hadn't had the adds, we stood a very good chance at bringing him down. I'd really like to try him again this weekend if we can all get on. If we can add him to our list of farm status bosses (along side the Baron in Strat and Darkmaster B!tchling in Scholo) it'll mean uber drops for all!

Email troubles

Well when my web provider moves the site to the new server the method the forum uses for email will no longer work. So I changed it to the new method they will support.
Unfortunatly it only appears to work if you have a batcaveweb email account... LOL

So to all the new people registering, If you don't get an email don't worry. I will manually activate your account as soon as I see it.

I will play around and try to get it to work but if I can't I will change it back to the old method. That should work for a month or so.

Sorry for any trouble.

*Update*: Ok think I got it working. It sent to gmail and to missouristate so I think it should work for everyone. Let me know if you aren't getting your subscription notifications.

WoW UI Mods updated for 1.9

I've updated all my UI mods for the 1.9 patch. No new features just a .toc update.
I have also added a download for my modified version of Wardrobe.
After version 1.3 Wardrobe added many features I did not want and also required you to install function libraries. So this is my modified version that playes nice with the BG queue icon.

So if you want a nice and simple equipment manager give it a try. :)

Carnilion has started a wish list thread over in the forum.

When everyone is on we can fill a 10-man raid now. With this in mind, where would you like to go and what would you like to accomplish with the guild's help? Instances (Scholo, Strat, U/LBRS, BRD, DM) or outdoor zones for quests or whatnot. Anything is fair game assuming it can be done with 10 people or less.

Head over and tell us what you want/need to do.

Forum Maintenance

I'm sure no one even noticed but I had to do a little work on the forums today. My hosting provider is in the process of migrating to new servers. After getting the site all setup and working I get an email today saying that none of it will be supported on the new servers... :0

I changed the database connection strings and tweaked how the forum email works and it appears to be working. So we should be good to go when they move the site in "early 2006". They are supposed to email me before and after the move so I'll let you guys know when I know. :)

If you run across anything that doesn't work please let me know.

Now that we've finally sorta got things up and running I hope that you guys are actually checking the main site. It is where we will post the latest news and happenings as well as things going on in the forums.

If there is anything you would like to see posted to the main site please let me know. Just send me an email, be it something you've posted in the forums and want everyone to see or just some cool info or something else out there on the net you think is news worthy to our group.

I would like the main site to be the place we convey important guild information and the forums to be where we talk about it.

Useful UI Mods for raids

Malecandra has put togather a list of UI mods required by the Lobster Magnet guild on their raids.

Lobster Magnet has a list of required addons for their raids. Most of them are extremely useful and beneficial and we use them on Istari guild raids as well.

Private Hidden Guild Forum

There is a hidden forum that only people I add to the list can get into or even see for that matter. It is a place for us to discuss private and secure matters. You will not see it when you register but I will add you too it as soon as I see you've got an account.

I've added the two new people to the list and will try to keep up as fast as you guys register.

What would you like to see?

I guess before I get ahead of myself with content on the main site we should decide what we want it to look like. It will be very easy to change the main page but once we start creating other pages it will be a little more difficult drastically change things.

The current look it a tweak of one of the default blogger templates. If we keep it it will drastically change how it works on the back end but it should still look about the same. Or we can change things about it as well. Or we could choose an entirely different look for the site. I could very easily make the site look something like my home page, even change the fonts and color around very quickly. I already have my site hacked up so that it is very modular.
I'll try to post some screen shots of some of the other templates if there is one of those you would rather start with.
Or if there is some website out there that you would like ours to look like post a link.

RSS for the feed junkies

The main site now has a news feed for those of you out there with feed readers. Now you can get that needta gotta have it Istari news right to your PC or mobile device.

Oh and the main site and forums also work well on Pocket PC and Smart Phone web browsers.

(If you have no idea what any of this means you really don't need to worry about it.) ;)

Well... I kinda deleted the forum database thanks to a poorly writen ftp client. So we're back up and running again. Sorry to those of you who registered and were posting already. :(

So what kinda of stuff do you guys want to see on the main guild website? We will probably do most of our business here in the forums but I would like the main page to be of some use to you.

I'll obviously post news type stuff, links to things relevant to the guild, and other important forum activity but what else would you like to see?
